Zee5 is one of India’s largest OTT platforms with over 120 million monthly active users and a strong global presence across 190+ countries. Known for its multilingual originals, movies, and live TV, the platform drives high engagement across devices.

As part of its smart TV growth, the platform adapted its existing web streaming app for Amazon Vega OS, focusing on wider device availability and smooth, high-performance playback with voice support.

Problem Statement

Their Vega OS app showed poor perceived performance and lacked reliable voice-assistant integration:

Key screens took several seconds to render, creating a laggy experience on large screens.
Alexa voice commands were not fully integrated or inconsistent with the app’s navigation/state.
Player/UX interactions were slow under voice flows, degrading discoverability and accessibility.

Solutions

Logituit delivered a combined performance optimization and voice-integration project:

Rendering optimizations: Instrumented render paths, applied code-splitting and lazy loading, reduced synchronous JS on the main thread, and optimized reconciliation, so core flows reached an interactive state far earlier.
Alexa adapter & voice flows: Built an Alexa adapter layer mapping voice intent to navigation and player commands, ensuring the voice actions respected focus state and player lifecycle.
Player and UX tuning: Prioritized voice-driven paths, reduced playback startup and seek times during voice interactions, and tightened analytics/events so voice interactions are measurable.
QA & regression: Delivered the focus/navigation of QA playbook and voice test suites across device families.
