Background

Sun NXT is one of India’s leading regional OTT platforms with over 20 million users and a rapidly growing connected TV audience. Known for its strong regional content library across South Indian languages, the platform has built a loyal user base both in India and among the global diasporas.

The platform set out to launch on Amazon Vega OS, a growing connected TV ecosystem that offers scale but requires specialized implementation to match existing platform performance.

Problem Statement

Sun NXT had built a pure Vega OS script app with their internal team. Before launch, they faced:

Unstable focus management and random focus jumps between carousels and detail views.
Performance issues on list and detail screens: stutter, long paint times, and slow scroll responsiveness.
Player integration was based on an example/sample implementation (Amazon example) and was not production-hardened for ads/analytics/DRM.

Solutions

This engagement was a Vega script stabilization and production hardening. Logituit’s scope included UX fixes, player hardening, performance work, and developer enablement:

Focus & navigation: implemented a deterministic, stateful focus manager; standardized remote-key handling and back-stack semantics across carousels and modals.
Player & analytics: replaced fragile sample hooks with production-grade player glue; integrated ad breaks, analytics events, and DRM flows so reporting and monetisation worked reliably.
Performance engineering: virtualised long lists, deferred non-critical JS, reduced main-thread synchronous work, and applied memory/Garbage-Collection mitigations.
QA & enablement: delivered the targeted QA playbook for focus/navigation tests, plus one-on-one coaching for the two engineers and a regression test suite for future releases.

Sun NXT app achieved production readiness with predictable remote navigation and stable playback.
Measurable improvements in UI responsiveness (screen load and interaction times improved by 30–35% in controlled tests).
