The client is a comprehensive solution provider based in China specializing in IC design and software development. They deliver industry-leading semiconductor solutions, integrating both hardware and software, for smart devices, IoT applications, and automotive electronics.

Problem Statement

The client was looking to enrich their surround sound quality. They had existing surround sound technology integrated into their OEM devices, but it was less efficient. Multiple lags and technical issues led them to Logituit for a compelling solution.

Solution

  • Integrating a proprietary post-processing engine into the QDSP audio path in Nexus5 required bypassing the default Android audio path and rerouting the audio chain to include custom processing effects
  • Surround sound virtualization of multi-channel audio for up to 7.1 channels was rendered for headphones
  • Loudness and dynamics processing (tuning) for headphones and internal speakers allowed the OEM to optimize their headphones and device speakers
  • A system-level solution was implemented to enable virtual surround sound
  • Audio Flinger was customized to enable specific post-processing effects for 3D surround sound, bass enhancement downmix, and graphic equalization
