The client was looking for a partner to develop a gesture recognition algorithm for users to interact with their digital displays.

SOLUTION

  • Developed IP for hand detection and tracking using OpenCV APIs 
  • Worked with the customer closely to understand the use case and tune the solution to perform with a high degree of accuracy 
  • Understood training dataset with Haar-based classifier 
  • Worked on the classification of hand movements to various gestures 
  • Robust recognition of a wide variety of Human hand categories 
  • Tuning for varying environmental lighting conditions by applying relevant color space filters 
  • Background handling 
  • Implemented using Bhattacharya distance and relevant statistical methods
